Oh, yes! It’s that time of year when we all go crazy for college basketball. Even if we don’t follow it any other time of the season, this is the time everyone gets into it. How do you pick your teams? Carefully studying the statistics and players for all the teams, comparing records and matchups and reaching a calculated prediction? Or do you pick ‘em based on who has the coolest uniforms? Doesn’t matter much, huh? It’s always fun, especially when a Cinderella team captures our imagination.
There’s a lot of talk about how March Madness is too much of a distraction at work. Probably so. Especially when you factor in the time you need for Facebook, Spider Solitaire, online Wheel of Fortune, and daydreaming out the window at our mad March weather!
Whatever happens with your brackets, good luck!

“It is most difficult, in my mind, to separate any success, whether it be in your profession, your family, or as in my case, in basketball, from religion.” ~ John Woodel

Hope you’re having a great day wearin’ the green. We sure had fun seeing everyone at the St.Patrick’s Day Parade. Here’s the luckiest Irishman in Denver with two lovely ladies!

It’s here at last. Soccer season. For the first time in many years, we didn’t have ANY soccer during the winter. I missed it. I missed being on the sidelines with all the crazy soccer moms & dads, cheering the kids on. Emilia’s playing on the JV team at D’Evelyn. Sam starts practice with his Rush team tonight. I’m excited for kickoff! See you on the field this spring?

Well, it’s the end for the Rocky Mountain News.
Too bad.
I’ll miss having the paper to read in the morning. Its size is more comfortable than the other paper, especially for those various important morning activities. But it’s easy to get “the very latest” news and information from other sources now: online, TV, and radio.
Tough times. The end of an era really.
Good luck to the departing staff.
R.I.P. Rocky.

Times being what they are, it’s tougher to stretch a dollar, isn’t it? Get a check this Friday and it’s already spent. What is the secret to making those dollars go further? It seems like no matter how much money you make, it’s gone in the first week after pay day and you have no dough that whole second week.

If you answered “no,” you might be the only one. I was talking with a friend one day on the phone (how 20th Century!) and he said, as we were hanging up, “Hit me on Facebook.”
I said, “I’m not on Facebook.”
He says, “After you get electricity out there, you should check it out.”
Well, now I’m on Facebook and it’s pretty cool. If you don’t know, it’s an online social network that works kind of like that old shampoo commercial: You get in touch with two friends who get you in touch with two friends. Then they connect with two friends, and so on, and so on…
I’ve at least said hello to some old friends and co-workers and traded friend requests with current contacts. I even accepted the friend request from the smart alec I was talking with on the phone! And it’s another neat way I can socialize with my daughter!
One bit of warning if you’re going to get on Facebook: It is a HUGE time-waster. I was going to post this blog entry a week ago, but I’ve been busy on Facebook!

The pictures of the devastating fires in Australia are certainly frightening, but this photo is so tender, I had to share. Meet Sam the koala and firefighter David Tree.

A recent survey found that almost half of America would rather live somewhere else. Most of those people would like to move here to Denver. What’s not to love? Denver is the birthplace of the cheeseburger, Samsonite, Village Inn, Big O Tires, Johns Manville, Coors, Chipotle, Quiznos, and Frontier Airlines. We’ve got the Broncos, Avs, Nuggets, Rockies, and the Rapids. Great cultural events, renowned museums–it’s all here. And those Rocky Mountains at sunset? Awesome!
As a Denver native I’ve seen lots of changes to the city as we’ve grown from cowtown to BOVINE METROPOLIS and I’m proud to be living here. Just one thing bothers me though…
This thing:

Seriously. This thing even crushed its creator. How do you feel about it? One positive: might scare some people away so we don’t get too crowded.
