Is the mega-texting kid normal?  Yep.  Ten thousand text messages seems to be pretty normal.  In fact, most of the messages I got said their kids text even MORE than 10,000 sometimes.  I guess that’s better than using up all their minutes actually talking, but still…  We’ve only allowed our daughter 500 texts per month.  I hope we’re not going to get brought up on neglect charges or something like that!

I got a call from a friend of mine the other day who asked me to guess how many text messages his son sent and received last month. He said, “Guess high.” Well, I’ve got a teenage daughter so I know the number’s got to be high.  I mean, they have whole conversations texting back and forth.  I can’t figure out why they don’t just *call* each other and have a conversation that way, but…”how 20th century, “right?  So, I guess…  “400?”
“No. Higher”
“Thousand?”
“Higher.”
“Two thousand?”
“Nope.  More.”
“FIVE thousand?”
“Higher.”
“Seriously?”
“Seriously.”
“TEN thousand?”
“Ten thousand, 400.  Do you think he has a problem?”
Yes, I do.  That’s over 300 text messages per day, everyday!
